I took a day 1 picture which I'm honestly not ready to show until I take my day 30 picture lol. I lost 20lbs over the summer doing round 1 of Turbo Fire and I didn't gain that much back when I wasn't working out due to the car accident but looking at my day 1 picture from today.... I was not happy at all. I think that kinda fueled me to push through the workout tonight too. So whenever I feel like I'm too tired to workout or just being lazy, I am going to look at that picture and think about what I'm striving for, think about how amazing it is going to feel to snap another picture every 30 days and see my hard work, and think about how much my story just might help someone else to push through and complete their workout goals. On that note, I'll finish with my favorite quote: "Change happens when the pain of change is greater than the pleasure of staying the same."

Turbo Fire day 1 COMPLETED!
I officially started Turbo Fire over again today. I was a bit worried that I wasn't going to make it through the workout because I did a few of the classes last week and could only make it through 10-15 minutes before my shoulder started to bother me but I did the entire class (Fire 30 class) tonight. I felt amazing. It helped that I had a crappy day at work today and needed to get some of my frustrations out in jabs and kicks so I was in intense mode.

These 12 Weeks Ahead....
So the past week has been pretty decent. I've worked out a total of 5 times this week. I've only been able to do about 20 minutes before my shoulder (from car injury) starts to bother me. Next week I am officially starting Turbo Fire over AGAIN. Can I do it this time? Oh YEAH! I've been keeping a to-do list for about a month and a half now and its made me crazy productive. I getting things done like never before. I also have a little motivation because at the end of July I will be attending my 10 year High School reunion. I want to look... Naw.. change that, I WILL look good. so I have these next 12 weeks. I will be posting weekly updates here and videos on YouTube.
Lets so what happens :)
Until next time.....

Bad luck, allergic reactions, why am I crying so damn much?!
I promise, this year has been so crazy. Sometimes I think I have the worst luck. But I have to tell myself not to think crazy negative thoughts like that. I think the end of last year was just all wrong. First with the car accident in October, which I'm still recovering from then in December I had began to have the most demonic toothache ever. I tried to get into the dentist but the office under my insurance had crazy days of operation. I had to switch to someone new. Luckily I was able to pick out another dentist who had awesome hours but then after everything was taken care of, I find out that she is out of the country until the last week of January. I didn't want to change dentist again because it takes a month to go through so I figured I could wait it out till she got back. Well the toothache went from demonic to bat shit crazy. Once I got in to see the dentist she said it had to be pulled and prescribed me an antibiotic. I didn't really care about the tooth being taken, its just a wisdom but I wanted all the pain to stop. I'm going to go on record right now and say TOOTHACHES ARE THE WORST PAIN IN THE WORLD! Yep, and trust me, I've been in some serious pain in my life. I actually cried myself to sleep one night because it was hurting so bad and no one or nothing makes me cry my own tears especially some rude tooth that I have housed since I was 11 years old and treated very nicely I might add.
But I digress, I thought everything was going to be fine, I would take the antibiotics and after a day or two the pain would stop then I could have that sucker pulled. Well, on day two of the antibiotics I woke up with this weird rash on my right hand. I was so out of it that I actually thought maybe I slept on it wrong or something. As I started to wake up a little more I noticed it was on my arm too and I wasn't feeling too good. My mom, who has had allergic reactions before told me to stop taking the medicine and call the dentist. The dentist told me to take Benadryl for two days and I would be fine and to stop taking the antibiotic. Well two days later I was actually worse. The rash/hives had spread EVERYWHERE on my body, my hands and legs were so swollen and super red. It hurt to walk, talk, move, and I felt like my entire body was on fire. I didn't know what to do so I got up and went to the ER. I was scared. I actually looked like some type of reptile alien. They checked me out in the ER and gave me a huge dose of this steroid called Prednisone. Now if you have ever heard of this drug then you know it is a serious drug. I was hesitant about taking it at first because when I was younger I was very sick and had to take it. Not only did it make me crazy depressed but it destroyed the muscle in both my legs and I could not walk, I blew up like a balloon, and I suffered from a major adrenal crisis which landing me in ICU for some weeks. The doctor said I only had to take it for 10 days. Right after the first dose I felt better, not 100% but way better than I had been feeling.
The next day is when I started to feel like I had all those years ago taking this medicine. I'm now depressed and crying... A lot.... Remember what I said about someone or something making me cry my own tears, not cool. The medicine is a miracle worker but very dangerous. I'm on day 5 so only 5 more to go. I also have to take a new antibiotic which I'm not allergic to. So all in all, this has been a terrible horrible no good very bad week. I am feeling better. I can finally type without it hurting so much. It is amazing how much we use our finger tips to do stuff. Mine have been feeling like someone is constantly smashing them with a hammer whenever I grab or hold something. Its good to feel better, now I just have to get back into my old routine which I think is going to be a little difficult. Being in that much pain really takes a toll on your body. I am so tired. I feel like I need another week just to catch up on rest and let my body finish healing but its back to my grind tomorrow. Then I will be getting back into working out and killing off these last several pounds. I'm ready, so let's go!
Oh and I did finally get that pesky tooth pulled. I showed it to my other teeth just in case they were thinking about acting up in the future ;)

Getting Back To The Old Me.....
So its been about four months since I last worked out, intensely worked out. Being in a car accident is very stressful. Not only on your mind but your body too. I have been healing physically and mentally and it has been a rough and painful road. It is going to take some time to get back to where I was (working out 6 days a week hardcore) but it is not a race. I did gain some weight back and let me tell you, it was very depressing. I actually started thinking that I wouldn't ever be able to reach my goal and I NEVER wanted to think that way again. I made myself realize quick that all the negative thoughts would never get me to where I wanted to be or even close to where I was. I talked to my chiropractor and he said it was ok for me to start working out but very slowly and very easy. I then talked to my coach Kristy who I LOVE! She is awesome. I always feel better after talking to her. She introduced me to Chalene Johnson's 30 Day Challenge. This challenge helps you to organize your life and achieve any goal you can dream of. It is AMAZING! I'm on day 13 and already my life is a little less stressful. I have always been one to think that I could get so much more done if I had more hours in the day. Well... I actually didn't need more hours, I just need a system for getting everything I wanted done.... well done lol. And this is exactly what this 30 day challenge is about. I would recommend it to ANYONE. I'm actually going to try to get my mom to do it. I will be helping her lose weight while I'm on my journey as well and this challenge would help her a lot with reaching her fitness goals.
It may take a month, maybe 6 months but I will get there. All negative thoughts, I'm turning them into positive affirmations. We are our own worst enemies and until we take charge of our lives and not choose failure when success is an option... we will stay unhappy, sad, and depressed. Who wants to live the rest of their life feeling that way? I know I don't.

Postponing TurboFire workouts due to car accident.
This has been a crazy week. Sunday night I was already to restart TurboFire this week and complete the entire program no matter what. Monday morning on the way to work, I was actually getting geeked up just thinking about it. I haven't worked out in a few weeks so I was looking forward to those yummy endorphins you get after.
I was on the expressway when all of a sudden two cars in front of me stopped out of nowhere. Luckily I was able to break in time and didn't hit the car in front of me. Unluckily..... the car behind slammed into me. After everything was squared away with the police, I got in my car (still drivable) and went to work. Once I got there, my neck started to bother me. After a couple of hours, it went from bothering me to full on hurting. I had to leave work and go to the emergency room just to make sure everything was ok. Nothing is broken but I have a cervical strain. The muscles and ligaments in my neck stretched and the muscles in my upper shoulder spasmed. Its been very painful and I can't workout which has upset me. I haven't been able to go to work and I've been home pretty much bored out of my mind.
I'm glad I'm ok and that no one else was hurt in the car accident. I'm hoping by next week I'll be able to start working out, if not then I'll just have to postpone until the week after next. Resting up and getting better is most important right now.

Getting Back on Track.
It's been a little over a month and things have not been going as planned. But hey, that's life. Things never really go as we plan sometimes. Work has been super hectic and I was left so mentally drained and that is very exhausting.
When I last checked in here, my mom had just started working out with me. That lasted for a couple of weeks and then everything went crazy-sauce. I never thought my job would be so crazy but with viruses on the loose and every one's computer seeming to want to break at the same time..... things got NUTS! Our jobs can cause so much stress sometimes which can interfere with our health. Working out is a great way to release stress but when you are mentally drained, it seems like nothing can get done. I've been tired to the point where my body has been exhausted but I could always tell myself to move past it because our minds are stronger than our bodies. We can do anything that we put our minds to but when your mind is drained, you can't function.
I was trying to keep up with working out, two or three times a week, but it became so difficult do. I knew I had to just relax and let my mind rest. So I took some time off from working out. I was still drinking Shakeology everyday but I knew I needed a break. Sometimes we all need a break and there is nothing wrong with that. I didn't want to get to the point where I felt burnt out.
As things started calming down a bit at work and I felt rested, I knew it was time to get back in the game. Even though I've lost about 20lbs, I still haven't hit my goal. I can see very clear now, more clear than I've ever been able to see it and that is because I'm surrounded by this community, Beachbody, that has so many wonderful, positive people that are will to help and motivate me right to that finish line. I've decided to start Turbo Fire over from week one, starting tomorrow (10-18-10). I know that this time, I can do this. I'll take it one week at a time and if work starts to get crazy-sauce again....... well, I'll just worry about that bridge if I need to cross it.
I know it is going to be difficult getting back on track. For the past few weeks, I've been coming home from work, relaxing, and trying not to think about anything. But hey, the way I look at is if everything was easy then what would drive us to be GREAT individuals? As my favorite quote goes: "Change happens when the pain of change is greater than the pleasure of staying the same".

My mommy's on board, week 3 redo, and randomness?!
Week 3 is over but I've decided to re-do the entire week. Last week was so hectic for me at work that I only got to workout 3 times the entire week. I wasn't too happy with this and I could have just said oh well and moved to week 4 but I felt defeated in a way and I just wanted to redo the entire week. Nothing wrong with that, its my workout and it's not like I'm in a race to lose weight :)
My mom has finally decided to do Turbo Fire with me (I'm so excited!). So this is another reason why I decided to do the week over as well. I was just going to start from week 1 with my mom but she is no stranger to Turbo. She has done Turbo Kick (60 minutes cardio) so I'm thinking she won't have any problem picking it up. I will be doing the new to class options this week. If she struggles with tonight's class (Fire 45EZ) then I'll see if she just wants to start from week 1. I won't mind starting over for her. I'm just too excited that she has decided to finally join me. I've been trying to get her to workout since I've been on my journey. She first decided to start going back to the gym a month ago doing the treadmill and elliptical. And now that she's seeing my progress, she wants in on it (I can't blame her lol). Now all that's left to do is to get her to drink Shakeology and she is slowly but surely wearing down. I'm thinking she'll be drinking it before the end of the month.
In other news in the life of Lisa, I've colored my hair and since I colored it I've decided to get back into taking care of my hair like I used to. Because of work, I haven't been able to care for it like I should. Taking care of our hair is important too! It's apart of our body so since I'm working on fitness, why not work on hair care too (Shakeology has made my hair healthier too). Since I've colored it, I've made it more vulnerable to damage so I have to focus on deep conditioning and keeping it moisturized especially since winter is right around the corner. I won't go into it too much on this blog but I do have another blog where I talk about hair care and makeup if anyone is interested (http://spikedcoco.blogspot.com/).
So I'm wrapping this week's blog up hoping that my mom can stick it out with me for the entire month. I will be taking her measurements today and I will keep you guys posted :)
